Our story

Jeanine and Julie are a mother / daughter team. They design bridal veils and accessories that complement any wedding dress style in their small shop in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. When it all began, they had a vision of designing timeless and affordable wedding veils for the modern bride.

“We wanted to be able to offer affordability while not compromising the quality of our products. Creating a brand where brides can find their dream veil without the huge price tag has always been one of our main core values.”

They began their journey in 2017 and have since worked with over 14,000+ brides worldwide. As their collection has evolved, the original vision of modern elegance and affordability remains.

Meet Jeanine and Julie, the mother-daughter team behind Ruffled Rose Veils

Hi, I’m Jeanine!

After your veil is cut by Julie, I hand sew your veil in the style you requested. Once this is done, your veil is ready to be prepped with the final touches and packaged! I handle each veil with the utmost care ensuring perfection each step of the way.

I’ve been sewing since my early teens. That’s over 50 years of sewing and designing! Will I ever turn down a sewing challenge! Almost never!

I’m retired from nursing with over 40 years of experience. Do I miss it? Heck no! But, only because I’m still in touch with some of my former colleagues (hi friends)!

My fun times include going for walks, to the pool/wave pool, cycling and skating (I’m not always upright as I manage to fall at least once, unbeknownst to me)!

What is it really like working with my daughter? I love it and I love the work. She is the best! Being a hard worker and being super organized, we have a similar work style. I will mention.. she keeps me on my toes! I don’t always have my agenda book with me for notes, eek!

Hi, I’m Julie!

I’m usually the face you’ll see on our socials @ruffledroseveils. I cut each veil to perfection and assist brides in creating their dream veil. If your veil has pearls or rhinestones, I’m the one that placed them! I am responsible for the day-to-day operations as well organizing our busy shop. If you have any questions, I’m your first point of contact.

My super power is being able to nap anywhere, anytime.

I’m an absolute workaholic (sometimes I don’t know when to stop) but I absolutely love what I do and wouldn’t change it for anything else!

I have a serious love for cats (ok, maybe it’s an obsession).

What is it really like working with my Mom? It's great! Being in business together has definitely brought us closer; we respect what the other person brings to the business and we each do the things we like. She has always been supportive of my many late night crazy ideas but has never given up on me. I couldn't ever imagine a better business partner!

Where does “Ruffled Rose” Veils come from?

Ruffled: Ruffled is a strip of fabric gathered or pleated on one edge.

Rose: Joyce, Jeanine’s Mother (Julie’s Grandmother) was commonly referred to as the British Rose in the family. We wanted to carry a piece of the family on our journey.
